Mike Pentelow, co-author of Characters of Fitzrovia, drew a crowd to his walk and talk about people who have lived in Fitzrovia. The walkers were taken to places where Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, and Adolf Hitler’s half-brother lived; and where scenes from the TV series Minder and the film Peeping Tom were shot.

Original, first-edition hardcover copies of Characters of Fitzrovia signed by Mike Pentelow & Marsha Rowe are available from Fitzrovia News for £25. Contact Fitzrovia News for details. Proceeds will go the the Fitzrovia News and Tower newspaper archive fund.

The guided walk was part of the Fitzrovia Festival of People’s Architecture held at the Fitzrovia Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday 19 June, organised by the Fitzrovia Neighbourhood Association.

Mike Pentelow will join co-author of Characters of Fizrovia, Marsha Rowe, for a talk about Fitzrovia’s darker side with Paul Willets, biographer of Julian Maclaren-Ross and author of North Soho 999. 6.30pm, Thursday 1 July at the Fitzroy Tavern, 16 Charlotte Street, W1T 2NA. Organised by Fletcher Priest Architects. See also http://www.lfa2010.org/event.php?id=281&name=noho_noir
