A planning document to shape the future of Fitzrovia is to undergo a formal public consultation before it is adopted as part of Camden’s planning guidance next year. A meeting of the Bloomsbury Area Action Group on Tuesday 20 November 2012 will be presented with the Fitzrovia Area Action Plan and will be followed by a six week public consultation. The plan will then be submitted to the Secretary of State in early 2013 to be followed by an examination in public in the summer of 2013.Â
The Area Action Plan will develop a vision for the area shared by the Council, residents, landowners, ensuring that growth takes place in a way that balances the need for residential, institutional and commercial uses. The plan aims to coordinate development proposals across a number of significant sites and ensure that growth delivers the maximum benefits to the area.
Camden Council’s planners say: “The Area Action Plan will allocate potential development sites within Fitzrovia, and indicate how our Development Policies will be interpreted in the particular circumstances of Fitzrovia. All Camden’s development plan documents are required to conform with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the London Plan.”
The proposed timetable to adopting the plan is:
- Six weeks’ formal consultation on Area Action Plan Nov-Jan 2013
- Submission to Secretary of State Spring 2013
- Public hearing Summer 2013
- Inspector’s report received Late summer / autumn 2013
- Considered for adoption by Cabinet and Full Council Autumn / winter 2013
