And here’s a round up of the latest news over the past seven days or so…

Why are buildings on Charlotte Street empty? We tell you why http://news.fitzrovia.org.uk/2013/03/25/charlotte-street-buildings-empty-and-boarded-up-for-no-good-reason/

Independent local shop Fitzrovia Bicycles is featured in Bike Radar http://www.bikeradar.com/commuting/news/article/three-for-thursday-fitzrovia-bicycles-36875/ And we discovered one of the shop’s owners leads a double life playing drums with the band Nitkowski https://www.facebook.com/fitzrovianews/posts/356331001154961

There’s another graffiti artist competing for attention with Banksy in Fitzrovia http://news.fitzrovia.org.uk/2013/03/28/bambi-sprays-rude-pope-next-to-banksys-if-graffiti-changed-anything/

Marlon Abela bought Bertorelli in Charlotte Street in 2010 and was due to open it last year. It didn’t happen http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/features/marlon-abela-aged-eight-i-was-fine-dining-8130910.html

The Washington Post observes that the wait at Bubbledogs in Charlotte Street can be up to two hours on weekends, so customers indulge in a pre-dinner street party outside. Apparently the fashionable media-types from the local Fitzrovia neighborhood bring along cans of gin and tonic to sip while they brave the elements. (At the end of a Saturday evening, the sidewalk is strewn with empties.) http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/travel/london-picks-up-the-pace-on-fast-food/2013/03/28/76f508ba-9566-11e2-bc8a-934ce979aa74_story_1.html

Artist Ian Brice wrote to tell us about an exhibition of his in Stepney. “I am having a show of my column paintings in a church in Stepney.” Brice was once a litho printer in the basement of 28 Charlotte Street, the home of Adrian & Corinne Heath. Ian Brice, April 19 – May 8, 2013 St Dunstan & All Saints Church, E1 http://www.ianbrice.com/
