Westminster Council’s street environment service appear to have lost one of the largest building sites in its manor. The former Middlesex Hospital site currently being developed under the name of Fitzroy Place by a consortium of Exemplar, Aviva Investments, and Kaupthing appears to slipped off the radar of the flagship Tory council.
It’s not difficult to miss with its five or six cranes, you can see it quite clearly on the horizon from the upper floors of City Hall in Victoria Street.
But the three acre site is not in Westminster but in neighbouring Camden, according to an environmental health officer who wrote in an email saying:
Thank you for contacting Westminster City Council in connection with a noise issue.
Unfortunately the Former Middlesex Hospital, isn’t located in Westminster, It is situated in the borough of Camden because of this any noise that is generated due to work there needs to be reported directly to them.
Fitzrovia News thinks West End ward councillor and Westminster’s cabinet member for housing and property Jonathan Glanz needs to issue some guidance in finding the huge construction site.
When I was given a parking ticket by Camden for parking on a Bank Holiday Monday on the south side of Goodge St, west of Charlotte Place, and directly below my own flat where Westminster Council collect my Council Tax, Westminster Council couldn’t supply me with a definative map that showed the borough line, not very good is it?
