Fitzrovia News editors and contributors have been enjoying this newly opened Afghan restaurant in Goodge Street. We received a warm and friendly welcome and lovely service.
I loved the Karachi Lamb: baby lamb on the bone cooked with tomato, garlic and green chili herb — melts in the mouth. The nan bread is soft and fluffy and the chutney pickle is sublime. The sea bass and mixed grill were equally as good.
You must try the Afghan Sherpa for desert — milk, cardamom, sugar, pistachios or walnuts. Not too sweet and a hint of rose water, delicious. Served in a beautifully shaped glass. Lovely assortment of baklava too. The mint tea came with coated almonds, a nice touch.
For the vegetarians there are a small number of dishes. The lentil soup was delicious.
I love the simple decor, comfortable chairs and quiet background music. Very reasonably priced. We will probably be queuing to get in next time we visit.
