The Warren at the north end of Whitfield Street will undergo refurbishment and be completed before the summer holidays.

Work is expected to start today on a major refurbishment of The Warren open space and playground at the north end of Whitfield Street. Camden Council say that the works will take around seven weeks during which theĀ area will be closed to the public. The works are due to be completed by the start of the schools’ summer holidays.

The refurbishmentĀ will involve a new design but retain many of the existing features. There will be a new play are and play equipment, and railings will replace the brick walls. The multi-use games area will have a new surface and upgraded fencing.

The existing “maze” paving will be restored, there will be new planting to add interest and encourage wildlife, and the space will more flexible for community events, sayĀ Camden Council.

Work is due to commence on improvement works on Wednesday 28Ā MayĀ ahead of schedule as the contractors have been able to start earlier than anticipated, says Camden.
