Charlotte Street was closed this lunchtime after part of a crane on a construction site collapsed leaving part of it dangling in front of offices of a neighbouring building.
No-one was injured in the incident which happened about 12 noon but the street between Howland Street and Tottenham Street is closed while police and the London Fire Brigade attend the scene.
The crane is part of the construction site for a redevelopment of the former Swiss Club at 74 Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, one of many construction sites in the area.
