A planning application to redevelop the Middlesex Hospital Annex and former Strand Union Workhouse site is being put together by UCLH Charity.

The site which includes the Grade II listed Georgian and Victorian workhouse is in the process of being sold by UCLH NHS Trust to its sister company UCLH Charity which is putting together a planning application to be submitted to Camden later this year.

UCLH NHS Trust has an outstanding s106 agreement to provide social rented housing on the site as part of its planning obligations for redevelopment of its estate of hospitals. Housing on the site is 10 years late but Camden Council has said it is reluctant to take UCLH to court to enforce the agreement.

The plans will retain the listed building, include social rented and intermediate affordable housing as well as homes for sale at market prices. Commercial premises are also planned for the site as well as some public open space.

Public exhibition: 2pm to 8pm Wednesday 7 September, at Fitzrovia Community Centre, 2 Foley Street, London W1W 6DL. The Annex Exhibition Leaflet (pdf).
