The Fitzrovia Partnership Business Improvement District is calling for nominations to elect representatives from residents to its governing board. A residents community group has been formed from which two members will be elected to serve as company directors of the BID.
The move comes after residents groups put pressure on Camden Council and criticised The Fitzrovia Partnership for lack of consultation with residents and small businesses. In October 2012 an agreement was struck to include residents and representatives of small businesses on the BID’s board of directors.
Lee Lyons from the Fitzrovia Partnership says “The purpose of the Community Group is to engage with the views of residents and other local stakeholders in the area and ensure those living in the BID district are represented within the Fitzrovia Partnership and to work with the Partnership to deliver the wider community benefits set out in the BID company objectives.”
An election will be held to select a chair of the community group and two of its representatives to sit on the full Partnership board. The two representatives will represent the views of the community group on the board.
The Partnership says it is seeking full engagement with the local community. Residents who want further information on how to get involved please contact lee.lyons@fitzroviapartnership.com or Jeremy.Shapiro@camden.gov.uk
The deadline for nominations is 18 January 2013. There will then be an election with the results announced 0n 29 January 2013.
A small business group will also have representatives on The Partnership board and will be set up at a later date.
