To inform and entertain the people living in the London neighbourhood of Fitzrovia.

The Fitzrovia News is an independent, non-profit community news site and newspaper, produced by volunteers and supported by our readers.
Our reporting includes public interest news, local democracy reporting, features and comment about health, housing, business, environment, people, events, history, culture, politics and public consultations.
It is published by the Fitzrovia Community Newspaper Group Ltd, a company limited by guarantee (Company number 16065859), and edited by Linus Rees who is also the director of the company. Although not a registered charity, the group has a charitable purpose in that it seeks the advancement of citizenship and community development by informing the people living in Fitzrovia about issues of importance; and seeks to promote volunteering, the voluntary sector, and “community capacity building”, in an engaging and entertaining way.

History of The Fitzrovia News

A community newspaper called Tower was started in 1973 by a small group of activists as a free community newspaper but ceased publication at the end of 1979. In 1980 the Fitzrovia Neighbourhood News was born, supported by the Fitzrovia Neighbourhood Association. In January 1987 it was shortened to Fitzrovia News and has been published more or less four times a year ever since. In June 2024 we added “The” to become The Fitzrovia News. From 2009 The Fitzrovia News has been published online. As of June 2010 The Fitzrovia News has featured in Google News and from October 2014 in Bing News. There is an article on The Fitzrovia News at Wikipedia.
We have an archive of the Tower and The Fitzrovia News printed newspapers.
