Ways of Wine is showing at a special screening at the Charlotte Street Hotel.

The second Argentine Film Festival kicks of next week and includes a private film showing of ‘Ways of Wine’ at the Charlotte Street Hotel screening room.

Gaucho Restaurants are offering an exclusive combination of film, wine and dinner on 17 April to celebrate Malbec World Day

‘Ways of Wine’ is the story of Charlie Arturaola, the darling sommelier of the wine world, who lives by his palate – and loses it.

Appearing to have lost his sense of taste, on which his reputation very much depends, and becoming increasingly anxious, the larger-than-life Charlie takes advice from friend and wine connoisseur Michel Rolland, and sets off to search for a cure in Mendoza, Argentina’s celebrated wine region. But once there he finds that persuading the gatekeepers of Argentina’s finest vineyards to let him sample their premier cru is not quite as easy as he’d imagined. And so begins an odyssey that takes in Mendoza’s vineyards and allows Charlie to eventually weave his way back home to his native Uruguay.

A seamless blending of documentary and fiction, Carreras’s love letter to wine offers a highly entertaining tour across Mendoza’s vineyards and the Argentine wine-making tradtion. This is a film about a man facing a mid-life crisis and confronting the mistakes of his past but it’s also a study of the pleasures offered by a glass of wine and wine’s relationship to soil and the land.
