Local resident and actor Griff Rhys Jones will chair a discussion tonight about neighbourhood planning in Fitzrovia. He will also be talking about the Dylan Thomas Festival, a series of events commemorating 100 years since the birth of the Welsh poet.
The event is being organised by the Fitzrovia West Neighbourhood Steering Group who have made an application to designate the Westminster part of Fitzrovia as a neighbourhood area under the Localism Act. The public meeting will discuss the proposed boundaries of the area, the aims of neighbourhood planning in the area, and the corporate structure of the new forum. This is the second public meeting organised by the group and follows the neighbourhood area application made to Westminster Council in September.
Griff Rhys Jones who as president of Civic Voice has been involved in promoting civic pride across England. Tonight’s meeting will be a mix of planning and poetry with Jones giving a preview of next year’s Dylan Thomas 100 celebrations and the events he is leading in Fitzrovia.
