A tree is to be planted in Whitfield Gardens on Tottenham Court Road, in memory of the architect Bertie Dinnage who for many years led the Friends of Open Spaces Fitzrovia community group. A paperbark maple tree will be planted in a ceremony which will take place at 1pm on Saturday 30 November 2013.Â
The tree is to be paid for from local donations and users of Whitfield Gardens and those who knew Bertie Dinnage are asked to contribute.
Dinnage in his many community activities was also a leading member of the Charlotte Street Association. The Association is organising the collection for the tree and request that donations are made to their bank account or sent by cheque.

Bertie Dinnage died after a short illness on 16 Febraury 2011.
