Police have charged a Fitzrovia man with murder after his mother was found dead at a house fire in Kentish Town. The man handed himself in at a north London hospital on Saturday and was later arrested.

The Metropolitan Police issued a statement saying Peter Holboll, aged 44 of Tottenham Street, W1 was charged on the evening of Saturday 10 May with the murder of Tamara Holboll, aged 67 at an address in Lawford Road, NW5.

He was also charged with arson and will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court this morning (Monday, 12 May), they said.

Firefighters had been called to a house in the early hours of Friday morning and several people had to be rescued from the building. The woman’s body was discovered by fire crews, reported the Camden New Journal.
