Historic piece of Great Titchfield Street goes under the hammer, literally

A historic piece of Fitzrovia goes under the hammer today, literally, as workmen smash the multi breasted caryatids that support the front of Efes restaurant in Great Titchfield Street.

The well-known Turkish restaurant is closed for refurbishment until further notice says a sign in the window. I managed to grab a head, but couldn’t manage to carry a many breasted chest.
