Normally under lock and key Bedford Square and Fitzroy Square will this weekend be open to the public — as long as they pay to get in — as part of Open Garden Squares Weekend.
The gates to the private gardens in Fitzrovia’s largest and greenest of spaces are normally shut to the public. Fitzroy Square is open some lunchtimes during the summer for the public to enter, but The Bedford Estates generally keep their lush lawns safe from being trodden on by hoi polloi. Fitzroy Square has a private dog patrol.
Fitzroy Square will be open for ticket holders form 10am to 6.30pm on Sunday 15 June 2014; and Bedford Square will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June 2014. Entry is by ticket priced £12 and available at entrance to the gardens. Tickets are valid for all open gardens.
