Cafe owner Nuno Martins will bid farewell to his customers next week before he locks the shop up for the last time. After nearly four years in Fitzrovia, Martins and his wife Jieannie and staff member Roberto Inzane, will miss their little shop on Tottenham Street.

The shop is well known for its affordable breakfasts, freshly-made sandwiches and is often busy in the mornings with building workers from local construction sites as well as office staff.
The building is undergoing refurbishment and so the shop has to close. Martins originally from Portugal is intending to carry on in the catering trade providing food delivered to order to local businesses. The last day for the shop will be Friday 21 November 2014.

The cafe and sandwich shop, called Matteo’s after a previous owner, is one of a dwindling number of affordable cafes in the area which is undergoing rapid change because of redevelopment, rising land prices and gentrification.
