Local councils provide a community alarm service to help residents in Fitzrovia to live independently and safely. Camden Council provides a community alarm service called Careline Telecare. It is a paid-for service that provides equipment that enables at-risk people in the borough to get help quickly in an emergency.

Camden Careline is a personal alarm service to anyone who wants to live safely and independently. Available 24 hours a day.

“Most of the people Careline Telecare helps are frail older people or disabled people, but we are widening our customer base, for example to include people who are at risk of harassment or domestic violence,” says service manager Julia Kasztanowski.

Telecare systems work using your home telephone line. When the special equipment we install is triggered because you need help, the system connects you to an operator, and says who is asking for help, says Camden.

The system may be triggered when you press a special button, or by a telecare sensor.

If you think that you or someone you know would benefit from this service, or to find out more about Careline Telecare, call 020 7974 1491, email carelinetelecare@camden.gov.uk or visit the website camden.gov.uk/carelinetelecare
