There are a number of activities for older people living in Fitzrovia to take part in over the winter months.

Waterstones Book Group is looking for new members and invites you to come and try it out. It meets at 6.15pm for an hour on the Second Tuesday of the month in the basement café of Waterstones, Gower Street. The group reads mainly fiction or biography set in London. Please just turn up and join in.

The George & Dragon provides lunches for the Older Fitzrovia lunch club.

Time to Sing is still going at Fitzrovia Court, 24 Carburton Street, Mondays 11am – 12.30pm. Come and sing familiar songs with friendly people. The final day this month will be 15 December. It will start back up again 12 January.

The Fitzrovia Neighbourhood Association Older Fitzrovia lunch club on Mondays is available at the George & Dragon pub, 151 Cleveland Street on the corner with Greenwell Street, from 12.30pm, at a discounted price of £3 for regular main meal only. Specials and drinks are extra. This is through a kind donation from Sir Robert McAlpine, contractors for Fitzroy Place, plus the generosity of Paul the pub landlord who makes up any difference. You need to book your place on 020 7580 4576 and leave a message.

There is massage and reflexology on Wednesdays, 2.00 – 3:00pm at Fitzrovia Court, 24 Carburton Street W1W 5AS. I do the schedule for it on Tuesdays. If you’re interested, please call me on 020 7580 4576 and leave a message.

All Souls Clubhouse has a range of friendly exercise classes available. They also run two very useful services: Clubcare which includes visiting and other help, and a shopping trip available every fortnight on Thursday. The lunches on Wednesdays are also still going. If you’re interested in any of these, please call the Clubhouse on 020 7255 9756.

There will be a Community Christmas Dinner on Monday 22nd December from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Indian YMCA, 41 Fitzroy Street, London W1T 6AQ. Young people from Fitzrovia Youth in Action have organised this and invite the local community to a Christmas dinner to celebrate the festive season. There will be roast dinner, cakes and tea and entertainment for all to enjoy. Free of charge.
