Patients and their carers are invited to a meeting to discuss the future of the Soho Square General Practice at the surgery next week. Last year the doctors’ surgery was threatened with closure but despite a temporary reprieve the future of the service remains uncertain. The practice is particularly important for the Chinese community and serves many patients in Soho, Fitzrovia and Covent Garden.

The meeting on Wednesday 21 January is only open to patients and carers at the surgery of Doctors Cheung and Brassey. Patients will be updated about the procurement (awarding of a contract) for a permanent provider (managers) for the practice. It will also be an opportunity for patients to meet the doctors and officers of the current temporary provider and tell them about what is good about the practice and any concerns they have about the service.
Officers of the recently reactivated Patient Participation Group (PPG) are convening the meeting. All patients of Doctors Cheung and Brassey qualify to be members of the PPG and are invited to the meeting.
If patients are unable to attend they can email their comments to the PPG’s dedicated email address — sohosquarePPG@outlook.com — so that their views will be fed into the meeting records.
Representatives of the NHS or Westminster City Council are not expected to be at the meeting.
