Three design development workshops for Crabtree Fields public open space will be held over the next three months at Fitzrovia Community Centre.
Architects DSDHA are working with Camden Council to “explore changes and improvements” to the public park “which are sensitive to the original design and layout” says Camden Council’s Parks department.
“Following on from previous engagement at Crabtree Fields, we are planning further community workshops,” says Camden.
Last year sessions were held where park visitors were asked to express an opinion on the state of the park, its maintenance, and the future of the public space which is tucked away between houses on the corner of Colville Place and Whitfield Street.
These followed complaints by local residents about the state of the public open space and the announcement by Camden Council that it wanted to make changes to the park.
In October 2021 Camden parks department closed the children’s playground with the intention of installing new play equipment. However, this was never installed and the play area opened again with just the two swings available for children to use.
The current round of public engagement will culminate in work to implement physical changes to the park.
“Each workshop will have a different theme, which are based on the priorities highlighted by the community last year. Additional details will be provided leading up to each workshop along with details of how to confirm attendance,” says Camden.
The workshops will take place on following dates:
- Workshop 1 (Theme – Design) Wednesday 15 May 17.30 – 19.30
- Workshop 2 (Theme – Social) Thursday 13 June 17.30 – 19.30
- Workshop 3 (Theme – Maintenance & Longevity) Thursday 18 July 17.30 – 19.30
All workshops will be held at Fitzrovia Community Centre, 2 Foley Street, London W1W 6DL.
