Goodge Street is closed to all vehicles between Goodge Place and Tottenham Court Road today, Monday 16 September 2024, for carriageway resurfacing work.
The Goodge Street closure means there is no access through the junction of Charlotte Street and Whitfield Street making cycling and driving through the area difficult. Pedestrians also have to take a detour around the works.
The closure is due to take one day but could extend into Tuesday 17 September.
In a letter to local residents and businesses Camden Council writes to say that the work will be carried out between 8am and 6pm on both days.
“In order to carry out these works it will be necessary to close Goodge Street between [Goodge Place and Tottenham Court Road] and traffic diversions will be in place,” states the letter.
Parking is suspended along Goodge Street for the the duration of the resurfacing work.
The closed road and the diversions will add to the already congested routes through Fitzrovia. Drivers and cyclists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
