Film promotion image shows a man talking on the telephone. On the image are the words Tambo's London Recruits, not everyone made it home. At the height of apartheid, an international group of workers and students answered Oliver Tambo's call for undercover agents.

A film about a significant aspect of the South African anti-apartheid struggle in London will be showing in cinemas across the UK from 22 November 2024.

London Recruits tells the story of Ronnie Kasrils and how he organised against apartheid, including the meetings that were held in buildings in and around Goodge Street and Charlotte Street in the 1960s and 1970s.

Inspired by the written accounts in the 2012 book London Recruits, The Secret War against Apartheid, the film uses archive footage, drama, and eye-witness accounts to tell the story of how Kasrils and his comrades raised the hope of many in the fight against the racist South African regime.

On Thursday 21 November 2024 there will be a fundraiser release at The Ritzy Brixton, followed on 22 November with screenings across the UK. See the London Recruits film website for full details.
