Artwork by Clive Jennings. A collage of images.

An exhibition of artworks by Fitzrovia News contributor and arts editor Clive Jennings is on show at the Colony Room Green in Heddon Street, Mayfair, this winter.

Jennings’ self-styled “Framages” have been described as in the Dadaist tradition, and creating a subversive world that wittily challenges perceptions of normality.

Jennings studied fine art at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and St Martinโ€™s School of Art. He was selected for The Young Contemporaries Exhibition and had a studio at Butlerโ€™s Wharf.  A successful career as a fashion designer followed, with shops in London, and shows in Paris, New York and Tokyo.

By the 1990s he had segued into dealing in, and curating, contemporary art, and over time had three central London galleries. He also organised The Contemporary Print Show at The Barbican Centre, and founded The National Print Gallery and The Big Art Issue

Jennings has always made his own art, and continues to do so at his central London studio. He has exhibited extensively, and his work is in many collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

“My work combines disparate elements creating new narratives to engage, perplex and hopefully delight the viewer,” he says.

See these artworks, hanging in an artwork! The Colony Room Green is an art installation by Darren Coffield that is an homage to the original Colony Room Club in Soho, famously frequented by Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud. Itโ€™s also a functioning bar โ€ฆ with drinks at 2008 prices!

Mondo Clivo”, by Clive Jennings, at the Colony Room Green, 4 Heddon Street, London W1B 4BS. Open Monday to Saturday from 3pm to 11pm, until 3 January 2025. Mondo Clivo is a Gallerie Lost production.
