A repairing project is fast becoming one of the most popular activities at the Fitzrovia Community Centre in Foley Street.

Such is the growing demand for the project, which helps local residents to keep household items working and clothes usable, that the Community Centre is seeking more people to get involved for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.

Volunteers are wanted to greet visitors, find out what they need fixed, explain how the event works, make coffee and hand out cake.

But also people experienced with electrical repairs are needed to help fix small appliances.

Clothing menders are in demand to help with stitching clothes by teaching basic repair skills. No dressmaking or alterations, just simple fixes. A short training session is provided if needed.

Fix It, Donโ€™t Ditch It! Repair Cafe events take place every fourth Sunday of the month at Fitzrovia Community Centre, 2 Foley Street, London W1W 6DL. The next repair cafe takes place on Sunday 22 June, Sunday 27 July 2025 from 2pm to 5pm. More information here.
