A cyclist was injured this week on Tottenham Court Road by a lorry driver turning left into Howland Street, according to social media reports and local eyewitnesses.
The collision occurred around lunchtime on Wednesday 23 July.
“Multiple police cars and ambulances on the scene, with at least one reported injury. The street is currently blocked off midway,” states a post on X by journalist Mohamed Elmaazi which shows presence of emergency vehicles.
Another post on Reddit reports on the same incident, though incorrectly stating it as Goodge Street, and shows a photograph of a left-turning lorry stopped at the scene.
According to comments on both reports, witnesses said a woman cycling was injured when a lorry driver turned left off Tottenham Court Road into Howland Street.
No official details have been released by the emergency services, and the Metropolitan Police will not be responding to our request for comment.
According to the TfL Collisions Map, the incident occurred at 12:50pm and involved “a pedal cycle and a goods vehicle”. A woman cyclist aged 22 years sustained a “serious” injury.
