The long-established Oxfam shop on Goodge Street in Fitzrovia is looking for volunteers and donations and is making a plea to help keep its forecourt clean.
A volunteer cashier is needed to work on Saturdays from 3pm to 6pm.
“As a till volunteer, you’ll be the friendly face of our shop, handling customer transactions with a smile. You’ll provide top customer service, and help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps our customers coming back!” says the notice for the volunteering opportunity.
The shop is continually looking for donations of clothes, books, music, and homewares — but not used bedding and towels as these cannot be sold or recycled.
“At Oxfam, we’re not just selling pre-loved items and unique finds — we’re working together to build a radically better world. With your help, we will turn pre-loved treasures into resources that empower communities worldwide,” says the charity
However, a plea has been issued to help keep the street in front of the shop clean.
“Whilst we greatly appreciate your donations, please do not leave them outside the shop when it is closed. Donations will either be stolen or the bags ripped open and a mess is created outside,” states a notice in the shop window.
Opening hours are 11am to 6pm from Monday to Friday and from 11am to 5pm on Saturday. See the shop’s website for more information.
