Pipeline gallery heads to Windmill Street for ‘Strings Attached’

Pipeline, a contemporary art gallery founded in 2022 by Tatiana Cheneviere, is opening a new space over two floors at 31 Windmill Street, on the corner of Whitfield Street.

Its relocation from nearby Eastcastle Street will be marked by the exhibition Strings Attached.

Co-curated by London-based art historian Bella Kesoyan, it will feature sixteen upcoming and established artists. Each has chosen a book from Kesoyan’s collection as a basis for a new piece.

Her archive contains more than 500 works of creative history, which she has gathered while conducting academic and artistic research. Attendees will be able to view a selection from her collection paired with the artists’ responses.

Strings Attached will be composed of two natural phases. Chapter One explores “tactility, the female body, and gestures of weaving and stitching”; while Chapter Two encourages “conceptual debates on time, form, and the book as a collaborative and poetic object”.

The project seeks to encourage communication across disciplines as it “embraces the intersections of art, music, literature, poetry and performance” without restrictions on medium.

As with the previous gallery, the new space will include an area termed “The Pipeline”, which is designed for new pieces, so that visitors can thoroughly immerse themselves in a work — offering a moment of mindfulness amidst the busyness of today’s world.

Pipeline Gallery told The Fitzrovia News that they are looking forward to settling into their new home.

“We were looking for a more dynamic space that can be used for new projects and collaborations. Something that is now available to us with the use of two floors.

“The gallery creates a space for people to encounter today’s most exciting creative voices right on their doorstep. Galleries aren’t just about looking at art, they’re gathering spaces. With openings, talks, and workshops, cross-regional and international collaborations, we hope to bring new ideas and perspectives and strengthen community ties.”
