Camden Council is seeking the views of residents on potential changes to the controlled parking zone (CPZ) in Fitzrovia to meet the objectives of its transport strategy.

Residents views are sought on the hours of operation, electric vehicle charge points, bike hangars, car clubs, and dockless e-bike / e-scooter hire stations.

The CA-E Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) covers the streets between Percy Street and Store Street in the south and up to Euston Road in the north, and extends east into the Bloomsbury university campus area.

Currently the CPZ operates from 8.30am to 6.30pm on Monday to Saturday and controls single yellow lines, paid-for parking, resident permit holder bays, permit holder bays, shared-use bays, and solo-motorcycle bays.

There are approximately 305 active resident permits issued for 375 resident parking spaces within the CA-E CPZ, says Camden.

The council’s transport strategy seeks to reduce car ownership and use and to adapt the streets to enable more sustainable forms of travel.

In 2022 an investigation identified that “hours of parking operation of the CPZ should better reflect how the area is used (including the night-time economy) and help improve air quality”.

Camden is now considering extending the hours of control to 7am to 9pm on Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm on Saturdays, and introducing controlled hours on Sundays.

Implementing 24-hour control is also an option, as it is already in operation in the neighbouring CA-C zone to the south.

“As parking controls and healthy street improvements can affect anybody living in or visiting an area, we want to hear from everyone who may be impacted by any changes — regardless of whether you own a motor vehicle (car, van or motorcycle),” says Camden.

Camden Council: CA-E Controlled Parking Zone and Safe and Healthy Streets Consultation. The public consultation is open until 24 October 2025. Consultation deadline now extended to 14 November 2025.
