Waterstones Booksellers Ltd has asked Camden Council to vary the premises licence for its store at 82 Gower Street on the corner of Torrington Place in Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury.
The current premises licence (PREM-LIC\3835) allows alcohol to be sold to drink on the premises from 10am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 12noon until 6pm on Sunday.
Permission is now being sought to allow alcohol to be consumed both on and off the premises from 10am to 11pm every day of the week, to remain open until 11.30pm every day, and to amend a number of conditions on the licence.
“The applicant wishes to increase the area covered by the premises licence to include a reading room and event space on the lower ground floor where they will host reading groups, book signings, events, etc, and use the area as a space for people to read. The applicant would like to be able to sell alcohol in the events room as well as within the existing cafรฉ,” states the application.
To view the details of the application and make a comment, search Camden’s public licensing register for the following reference:

A public consultation on the application is open until 12 November 2025.
