Charlotte Street has been closed between Tottenham Street and Chitty Street to all vehicle traffic for Thames Water to again carry out repairs to a leaking water main beneath the road surface.
Drivers are advised to avoid Charlotte Street.
The closure has led to an increase in road danger for pedestrians and cyclists in Fitzrovia as no diversion signs have been put in place and many drivers are ignoring the one-way street system to get around the closure.
A sign posted by Thames Water says the work will take until Tuesday 23 December 2025 to finish. Update: work has now been completed ahead of schedule and the Road re-opened.

Charlotte Street has been dug up numerous times by Thames Water in and around the current location.
The street is in the constituency of prime minister Sir Keir Starmer but his government has repeatedly refused to act against the chaotic utility company which limps from crisis to crisis.
Campaign group We Own It are calling on the public to press the government to take action to bring the water company under public ownership.
