Transport for London (TfL) is to carry out overnight work to replace street lighting on the Euston Underpass during February and March this year, with a traffic diversion and disruption for bus passengers, according to a letter sent to residents this month.
During the work, which will take place through the night between 10pm and 5am Monday to Friday from 2 February to 27 March 2026, traffic will be diverted to roads either side of the underpass in two phases of maintenance work.
Under phase one, from 2 to 27 February, bus stop H (Great Portland Street station) and bus stop Q (Euston Square station) will be suspended overnight only. Eastbound traffic will be diverted along the adjacent slip road.
Then from 2 to 27 March for phase two, bus stop P (Euston Square station) will be suspended overnight. Westbound traffic will be diverted off Euston Road to Gower Street, Grafton Way, Tottenham Court Road and then back to Euston Road.
“Please note that the banned left turn from Tottenham Court Road to Euston Road will be suspended while the diversion is in place, allowing vehicles to use this turning,” says TfL.
Residents who have any questions should contact TfL by emailing AbbasRaza@tfl.gov.uk and EtoWorchie@tfl.gov.uk for answers.
