London National Park City visitor centre in Mortimer Street has two events coming up this month that might be of interest to people living in Fitzrovia.
On Saturday 7 March national park volunteer ranger Elly Platt will be holding a free drop-in repair cafe.
Give your old clothes a new lease of life and learn the basics of clothing repair. With simple sewing skills you can take your clothes from basic to beautiful. Join in the patch-making workshop to embroider a fabric patch to mend or embellish a favourite garment.
A workshop for everyone, whether you have been sewing for years, or are yet to pick up a needle and thread.
“Please bring along an item of clothing that needs a little love (weโll have special tape available for raincoats with leaky seams, and fabric for patches) or simply drop in if youโd like to make a patch,” say the organisers.
On Thursday 12 March author Kassondra Closs will be launching her book, An Opinionated Guide to Wild London.
London is alive with green spaces and hidden wild places. Whether you want to hike, watch wildlife, forage for food, enjoy a bracing dip or just breatheโฆ this is your guide to reconnecting with nature in the city.
Join the book launch at the Visitor Centre for drinks and wild discussions with author Kassondra Closs. No ticket required.
London National Park visitor centre, 80 Mortimer Street, Fitzrovia, London W1W 7FE: Clothing Repair Cafe with Ranger Elly, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 7 March 2026; and Wild London Book Launch with Kassondra Closs, from 6pm to 8pm, Thursday 12 March 2026.
