The Fitzrovia Futures project has announced a short-story writing competition for 18 to 25 year-olds who have a connection to the neighbourhood.
With a first prize of a ยฃ30 voucher and ยฃ20 vouchers for runners up, the competition seeks works of literary fiction imagining Fitzrovia in the year 2055.
The winning stories will be published on the project website, and the winner and two runners-up will also be invited to read their story in public at a special event.
The deadline for entries is midnight on 18 July 2026 and stories must be set in Fitzrovia, and be between 1,000 and 1,500 words long.
Full details and how to apply can found on the Fitzrovia Futures website.
Ahead of the deadline, the project organisers will be holding a writing workshop on 28 June, designed to help writers get inspiration for their story.
“In the workshop you will gain insight and inspiration from the ACAN Urbanism and the Neurodiversity Architecture Network, specialists in architecture, sustainability and climate at the urban scale. There will also be tips on writing short stories,” say the organisers.
