Camden Council’s planning department has written to local residents inviting them to a development management forum next Thursday in Fitzrovia to view the latest proposals for the BT Tower site.
BT Group announced in February 2024 that it was selling its telecommunications tower to MCR Hotels for £275mn.
The 189 metre tall, Grade II listed Tower is no longer needed by BT.
In May MCR revealed outline plans for a hotel-led development which would include public access to the Tower’s viewing deck, as well as shops, restaurants, and public space on lower part of the site.
The plans also include a public open air swimming pool on the roof of the podium building.
“The Forum gives local people the chance to see what is being proposed and give their comments before a planning application is made,” states a letter inviting local people to the meeting.
After a presentation by the developer there will be an opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposals to Camden’s planning officers who will be at the meeting.
A planning application is due to be submitted for formal public consultation this autumn.
The plans as revealed in the recent exhibition are only outline and conceptual. No housing has been included in the design.
Local community groups will want to see more details about the proposed redevelopment at the public meeting.
BT still own the site and the transfer of legal title to MCR is anticipated to take place in a three year window between 2028 and 2031.
BT Tower development management forum, 7pm Thursday 25 June 2026, at All Souls Clubhouse, 141 Cleveland Street, London W1T 6QG.
