London Auction Xchange Ltd has applied to Westminster Council for a new premises licence for the basement at 156 New Cavendish Street in Fitzrovia West.
Permission is sought for the sale of alcohol to drink both on and off the premises from 9am to 11pm every day of the week. Online sales for consumption off the premises would also take place 24 hours a day.
According to the application: “The premises will operate primarily as an online luxury alcohol auction business trading through the LAX.BID online platform, which operates on a continuous 24-hour basis for online alcohol sales and auction activity.
“Alcohol sales will predominantly take place remotely for consumption off the premises. Alcohol sold online and from the premises will be limited to sealed bottles, cases, and auction lots comprising vintage, rare, premium, and luxury alcoholic products suitable for auction or specialist private sale.
“Occasional invitation-only auction events, previews, promotional events, and private client functions may take place at the premises between 09:00 and 23:00 hours. Complimentary wine or champagne may occasionally be offered to invited guests ancillary to such events.
“Customer attendance and collections shall be by prior appointment or invitation only. No public access or licensable activities shall take place at the premises after 23:00 hours.”
A number of conditions have been offered in support of the proposal.

A public consultation on the application is open until 13 August 2026.
