The Metropolitan Police have opened an investigation after a man was attacked and seriously injured in Whitfield Gardens, Fitzrovia, on Thursday morning.
A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with multiple injuries.
Whitfield Gardens public park remained cordoned off with blue police tape and officers were still in attendance on Friday afternoon. Flowers were also left next to a tree.
The incident in a busy area just off Tottenham Court Road occurred around 10.45am on Thursday 3 September.
Police officers and ambulance crew attended the scene and a man was seen being taken away in an ambulance.
In a statement to The Fitzrovia News, a Met spokesperson said:
“At around 10:45hrs on Thursday, 3 September, police responded to reports of an assault on Whitfield Street, Camden.
“Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and treated a man in his 40s who had sustained multiple injuries. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries have been assessed as life-changing.
“No arrests have been made at this early stage, and enquiries remain ongoing.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting CAD 2763/03SEPT.”
