Both the Greens and Labour have confirmed their candidates to fight the Holborn and St Pancras by-election to be held on Thursday 8 October 2026.

But it was the Greens who got off to a head start in Fitzrovia East, being the first to shower the neighbourhood this weekend with election leaflets carrying a message from their candidate, and party leader, Zack Polanski.

Even the Conservatives managed to stuff a rather nondescript leaflet through doors, asking for people’s views on local issues but have yet to select a candidate to stand.

The Fitzrovia News has yet to see a leaflet for Labour’s Sagal Abdi-Wali who was confirmed as the candidate at meeting of the Camden party on Wednesday evening.

Camden Green Party held hustings and a vote on Thursday night with Polanski announced as their candidate on Friday morning.

The other main political parties have yet to select their candidates.

Residents in Holborn and St Pancras, which includes Fitzrovia East, must be registered to cast a vote in the election.
