Transport for London (TfL) has announced a list of street changes and works, ahead of the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street between Great Portland Street and Orchard Street which will begin later this month.

Pedestrianisation day will be Monday 26 October and work is being done to enable bus services to navigate around the traffic-free area and to accommodate access by motor vehicles to premises.

Changes to bus stops and taxi ranks are being implemented but no special facilities for cyclists are being introduced.

In an email to local residents’ groups, TfL’s local communities and partnerships officer, Abbas Raza says: “I am writing to update you on the progress of enabling works which will prepare Oxford Street to become traffic free between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street.
