Man running down a street.
A night scene from Sherlock series 2: The Reichenbach Fall

A recent episode of the current series of Sherlock was filmed in Whitfield Street, Fitzrovia. A short sequence filmed at night during 2011 shows scenes from the rear of the Saatchi & Saatchi building and the corner of Make’s architect’s offices in Chitty Street. Part of the Whitfield Street Children’s playground and nursery can also be seen. Residents remember the street being cordoned off overnight while filming took place. Scenes from the Beatles’ film A Hard Day’s Night were also shot near this location. The Sherlock episode can be viewed on the BBC iPlayer.

  1. I remember the making of A Hard Days Night,1964 : I had only been in my house a year
or so with my new husband, when we heard the screaming of hundreds of females
outside, as Richard Lester did take after take of the Beatles. He had them run from
Chitty Street through Charlotte Mews, under our house to Tottenham Street & into the
security of the guarded Scala Theatre opposite to escape the clutches of the waiting fans.
We could watch all the action from back & front windows. Such excitement for a 20 year old
up from the country. In the film it comes about three quarters of the way through.
More recently, film maker Guy Ritchie – who has a cutting studio in Tottenham Street –
filmed Rock ‘n Rolla in the self same Mews. It was hilarious! He would film gangster actors
all day & then very late at night, the real criminals would come & do their drug deals there,
    in the same place.

  2. “Speedy’s Sandwich Bar & Cafe” which is below Holmes and Watson’s flat, and features large in the TV show is very real and thriving. I had an excellent lunch there today for under a fiver, whilst perusing the framed photos of the filming.

  3. I think everything typed made a great deal of sense. However,
consider this, what if you were to create a killer title?
I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your blog, but what if
you added a post title that grabbed folk’s attention? I mean Sherlock – series 2:
The Reichenbach Fall | Fitzrovia News is kinda plain. You
might look at Yahoo’s front page and see how they
write article headlines to grab viewers to open the links. You might add a video
or a picture or two to get people excited about everything’ve written.
Just my opinion, it would make your posts a little bit more interesting.
