Marks and Spencer Food is to move to a larger store on Tottenham Court Road — to a site previously occupied by a Sainsbury’s Local supermarket.

Sainsbury’s moved to smaller premises also on Tottenham Court Road at the end of last year after carrying out a review of its operation.

Currently M&S Food is located at number 55 near the junction with Goodge Street but a planning application has been submitted this month by Marks and Spencer plc to Camden Council for alterations to the vacant shop unit at 15-17 Tottenham Court Road.

An M&S spokesperson told The Fitzrovia News: “We are excited about our plans to move into a larger location on Tottenham Court Road, enabling us to offer our customers a much wider range of delicious, great quality M&S Food and guaranteed trusted value. Our colleagues will transfer once the new store is ready and until then we’ll continue working hard to serve customers at our existing store.”

The new store is due to open on Tuesday 9 June 2026.

M&S Food also has a small outlet which it shares with WH Smith in part of UCLH on the corner of Grafton Way and Tottenham Court Road.
