Local residents are beings asked for their views on the proposed demolition and construction management of the Euston Tower which is expected to begin in the second half of this year.

Permission was granted by Camden Council for the massive redevelopment project in 2025, which will see most of the building demolished, a much bulkier new tower built, all over several years of very noisy work.

It will be the same overall height but have a total floorspace of nearly 80,000sqm — an uplift of around 25,000sqm.

Developer British Land has now produced a draft construction management plan (CMP) and is inviting comments before the end of the month, and ahead of it submitting the final version to Camden Council, according to a letter delivered to residents surrounding the site.

During demolition and construction, work is due to be carried out between 8am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, with vehicle movements to be restricted between 8am and 9.30am to avoid the busy morning traffic period.

“Vehicles will be allowed to arrive on site at 7.45am and will be required to wait with their engines turned off,” says Tim Downes, British Land’s development director.

Engine idling by construction lorry drivers is a common bugbear for local residents who have to endure the noise and air pollution.

The promise of no-idling is often broken along with other assurances for restricting noise, disruption, and road danger.

In May 2023 a cyclist was killed in Fitzrovia by a lorry driver leaving a construction site at 7.40am, despite a CMP agreed with Camden Council stating that vehicle movements from the site should not take place before 9.30am.

Feedback on the draft CMP should be submitted by Thursday 28 May 2026. A community meeting to discuss the draft CMP will be held from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday 27 May at Old Diorama Arts Centre, Regent’s Place, 201 Drummond Street, London NW1 3FE. Further information is on the project website.
